"A very special place!"
I can't recommend Tanager Ridge Villa and Englishman's Bay highly enough. Glorious sunshine, friendly staff, beautiful villa, picture-perfect deserted Caribbean beaches, and all the fresh fish you can eat…
The rental process was painless. The owners were extremely efficient and offered helpful advice. The villa was in great condition and caters perfectly for 9-10 people whether it be for couples, groups of friends or family.
It is a very special place and one I'm sure I'll revisit.

"Incredible setting, beautiful island and a very special time in Tobago"
The villa is absolutely incredible. Everything is catered for and the set-up is perfect for a group/family holiday on the island. Lots of space, secluded location up in the forest and easy access to one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Huge thanks goes out to Django, Glynnis, Adam and Junior... you made our stay an unforgettable one! Will be coming back next year for sure!

"THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE & EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS"
We travelled as a group of 9 of us and our stay was honestly one of the best ten days I have ever had!
We arrived, in the evening to such a nice welcome, the house looked beautiful with lit candles, fresh flowers and the lit up pool. The house, pool, outdoor bar and huge garden were so gorgeous we spent a lot of our time just hanging out there very content!
The other amazing thing about this place is that it is 5 minutes away from Englishman's Bay which is definitely one, if not the best beach on the island - its so tranquil and chilled!
Would highly recommend staying here to enjoy the paradise of beautiful Tobago!

"Exceptional villa and great staff"
We stayed at the villa for one week as a group of 6 friends from France and French Guiana and we are still amazed by this villa overlooking the phenomenal beach of Englishman bay and the great village of Castara!
High standards and charming swimming pool in this villa.
A special thanks to Glynnis,Adam and Django for their kindness!
Please come to visit the "magnifique" island of Tobago, especially Castara and its vicinity!

"Very peaceful and spacious home in a great location."
Everything was well prepared when we arrived. Jango (the master gardener and our greeter when we arrived) was very patient and waited for 4 hours as our flight was delayed. The house was well equiped with all the kitchen needs including the most important BBQ grill. Great for cooking the local fish of the day!! Houskeeping came 3-4 times in the week for fresh towels and sheets.
We loved the island and everything it had to offer:
1. The in-house dining experience with Adam was excellent and very reasonable priced. Well recommended for at least one night of your stay.
2. Englishman's bay was one of the nicest beaches and only a 5 minute drive from the villa. The roti lunch at Eula's was fantasick.
3. The hike to the highest point on the Island (Pigeon Point) was challenging, but well worth the trip. The rainforest hike and birdwatching tour (with Peter Cox) was also a great and professional experience.
4. We recommend taking a small fishing boat over to Little Tobago and Goat Island......this was more personalized than the commercial tours offered.
5.Wednesday night at the Boat House was a blast. Steel drum night and the place was packed.
6. You have to buy a loaf of homemade (dirt oven) bread in Castera. Three old ladies have been making the bread for generations.
7. 2 words of caution....take as much TT's as possible. The only ATM's that dispensed cash for us were in Scarborough or Crown point. Also, the grocery stores outside of Crown point/Scarborough have very limited groceries. Buy as much as possible when Jango takes you shopping.
8. Mr. Rattan's rental car service was great. Great car, great service.

"Underbart ställe!"
Jättefint hus, läget är fantastiskt uppe i regnskogen. Finns fler hus runtomkring men man ser dom inte så det känns som om man bor helt avskilt. Rent och fint, nära till stranden Englishmans Bay som är otroligt vacker! Finns inte så mycket att göra mer än att njuta av naturen, stränderna, regnskogen, vattenfallen och fåglarna! Trevlig ägare,väldogt seriös. Ringde medan vi var där och kollade hur vi trivdes. Rekommenderas!

"Heaven; beautiful villa in peaceful surroundings"
We couldn't have had a better time staying at the wonderful Tanager Villa. The house itself is hugely comfortable with lots of room for a large group to have their own space or indeed, spend time together. Based in a Nature Reserve, the villa offers all guests exceptional and uninterrupted peace. Sitting on the balcony watching the sunset was an great treat, as was walking into the tropical gardens to pick bananas for breakfast smoothies and fresh limes for evening cocktails. 5 minutes from the beach, Jango, the gardner, took us on a great fishing trip returning with fresh tuna for the bbq. The owners were a pleasure to deal with, the pick up from the airport was smooth, renting cars made so easy, nothing was too much hassle. I wouldn't hesitate but to return.

"A beautiful, secluded slice of genuine paradise away from the gazes of anybody's eyes"
On landing in Tobago I have to say I was quite apprehensive about getting to the house after such a long flight. However we were met at the airport and driven about half an hour along stunning coastal roads revealing postcard bays and typically Caribbean villages. We were transported up a hill and through a gate and we'd arrived at a beautiful sprawling house surrounded by Tobagan jungle. The sounds of the birds and animals immediately put me at ease. The house itself is separated into the main house and another annex . The main house opens out onto a swimming pool and a small outside bar, perfect for mixing a few rum cocktails and fruit punches when the sun sets. The annex which has a large bedroom and a bathroom has a wonderful balcony view over the rolling jungle which descends from the house. All of the house was clean and the kitchen and bathrooms were ample good enough for anyone's needs. The local village of Castara is a colourful, typical fishing bay with a jetty reaching out into the water and a couple of shops where you can stock up on local groceries. If you want a day out on the beach be sure to take a trip to Englishman's Bay - five minutes by car or about fifteen minutes by foot from the house- you won't be disappointed! All in all, I would highly recommend a stay at Tanager Ridge, I can assure you that it's a place that will stay with you for a lifetime...

"A paradise perched in the lush Tobagan hills with the sea crashing in the bay below."
The setting of this house is so spectacular, you are right up in the hills. The views are wonderful; it is one of the most relaxing places I have ever been to. Definitely hire a car though, as you are quite remote - this is really a blessing though. The beach however, is actually just a 10 minute walk. We would all go down there in the morning for a swim and to watch the fisherman haul in their catch. Worth doing. The rooms are all comfortable and well decorated, the master bedroom is special. Definitely worth staying here if you are interested in going to rural Tobago.
